The founder and director of Doc Frank is Dr Frank Heibel, a chartered professional electrical engineer with international experience in railway signalling since 1991. From various senior project, technical and business development roles, Frank has gained profound experience and perspective for advising railway organisations and individuals in all aspects of railway signalling.
Frank held project management roles for significant projects in Australia introducing modern communications based in-cab signalling, as well as several technical lead roles for modern Automatic Train Control, including ERTMS/ETCS and CBTC. He is recognised as one of Australia’s leading independent experts on modern high performance signalling and frequently found as conference presenter or chairman and author of articles and other publications.
Frank’s mission is to disseminate signalling knowledge and insights for signalling and non-signalling people to understand. His considerable experience in training, knowledge transfer and mentoring is supported by a formal Cert IV qualification in Training and Assessment.
