Based on a wealth of international experience in modern Automatic Train Control (ATC) technologies, including the European Train Control System (ERTMS/ETCS) and Communications Based Train Control (CBTC), Doc Frank has established a leading position in this field within Australia. Recent work included:

• Strategic advice of railway operators for their planned introduction of ATC to increase the traffic capacity of their existing networks.
• Project management and technical lead roles for various communications based signalling projects and tenders.
• Publication of several key papers on the subject.
